Wells are a completely safe and dependable source of water if built correctly. Unlike our public water systems, the protection and maintenance of a private well is the responsibility of the homeowner

While most wells are only required to be tested when they are originally drilled or when a house is sold, the EPA recommends homeowners test their well yearly to make sure they meet potability standards. Have you notice a change in your waters taste, odor, color or clarity? You may need to test your water more than once a year

There are several reasons why it is important to test well water:

To ensure the safety of the water: Well water can contain a variety of contaminants, including bacteria, viruses, and chemicals, which can be harmful to human health. By testing the water, it is possible to identify any potential contaminants and take steps to treat or remove them, if necessary.

To identify problems with the well: Testing the well water can help to identify any problems with the well itself, such as a leak or malfunction.

To meet regulatory requirements: In some cases, well water may be subject to regulatory standards or guidelines, such as the Safe Drinking Water Act in the United States. Testing the water can help to ensure that the well meets these requirements.

To protect the quality of the water: Regular testing can help to ensure that the well water remains safe and of high quality over time.

There are many different types of water tests that can be conducted, depending on the specific contaminants that are of concern.
